1 The sown narratives is a collection of editorial-related projects developed as part of a design research.
Food Journeys is an independent publication project aiming to explore the possibilities of editorial design in alternative food narratives. The publication focuses on the inquiry of defining what constitutes fair, honest, and ecological food. To achieve this, each issue is dedicated to a city and its food practices—showcasing local, alternative food practices and approaches. The publication offers an original format that blends elements of a journal, city guide, and recipe book all at once.
The first issue is dedicated to Mexico City, a modern metropolis with a rich food tradition. Despite the famous world-renowned dishes that come from this city, the publication delves deeper into critical and reflective narratives, exploring topics like the current state of maize and local markets that sell amaranth. This collection of publications is part of the Sown Narratives project1 and was published by Occasional Press, based in Vancouver, BC.
